Dental Insurance: What to Know

Dental insurance works differently from medical insurance. Most plans include an annual maximum, and rather than fully covering your treatment, they share costs with you. Here’s a simple breakdown:

  • HMO Plans: Require you to see a specific assigned dentist. We do not accept HMOs.

  • PPO Plans: Allow you to choose your dentist. We are out-of-network with all PPOs but can still work with your benefits.

In-Network vs. Out-of-Network Providers
  • In-Network: Dentists have a contract with your insurance and accept reduced fees in exchange for patient referrals.

  • Out-of-Network: Dentists do not have contracts with insurance companies but can still see insured patients. Reimbursement is based on your out-of-network benefits. Many patients choose out-of-network providers based on trust, quality, and reputation.

Our Insurance Policy

Ocala Family Dentistry is out-of-network with all dental insurance plans.
When you schedule an appointment with us, we will get your insurance information, get an extensive breakdown, and present to you the estimated payment from your insurance at each visit. We file claims and accept reimbursemnt on your behalf. You are responsible for your patient portion. Take note Delta Dental patients. Delta Dental is the only insurance plan that will require the reimburment check to go to you directly.
