Dental Insurance: What to Know

Dental insurance works differently from medical insurance. Most plans include an annual maximum, and rather than fully covering your treatment, they share costs with you. Here’s a simple breakdown:

  • HMO Plans: Require you to see a specific assigned dentist. We do not accept HMOs.

  • PPO Plans: Allow you to choose your dentist. We are out-of-network with all PPOs but can still work with your benefits.

In-Network vs. Out-of-Network Providers
  • In-Network: Dentists have a contract with your insurance and accept reduced fees in exchange for patient referrals.

  • Out-of-Network: Dentists do not have contracts with insurance companies but can still see insured patients. Reimbursement is based on your out-of-network benefits. Many patients choose out-of-network providers based on trust, quality, and reputation.

Our Insurance Policy

Ocala Family Dentistry is out-of-network with all dental insurance plans.
Payment is due in full at the time of service. As a courtesy, we will submit your insurance claim on your behalf so you can be reimbursed directly by your insurance provider—usually via check in the mail.

While we no longer estimate insurance portions, we’re happy to assist you in navigating your benefits and answering any questions you may have about your coverage.
